Abstract:
Objective After several years of exploration, China's nuclear heating has achieved breakthroughs from pilot test to demonstration and then to commercial application. A number of newly-built nuclear power projects have also put forward heating requirements. With the advancement of the Dual Carbon goals, effective utilization of nuclear heating has become one of the key pathways for China's energy structure reform and carbon emission reduction.
Method Based on the technical characteristics of existing nuclear industrial steam supply projects, a comparative study on turbine matching schemes of two typical nuclear power units, Hualong One (HPR1000) and HTR-PM, was carried out, focusing on heating capacity, model selection, economic analysis, and implementation plans.
Result The research recommends that the Hualong One unit adopt the 1200 MW full-capacity grade unit, and the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor unit adopt the 350 MW half-capacity grade unit.
Conclusion In practical engineering, the heating load demand should be investigated and determined first. For steam turbine selection, ensuring nuclear safety and full-power operation of the nuclear island shall be taken as the premise. Various heating conditions, nuclear island start-up and commissioning conditions shall be comprehensively considered to cope with the risk of future heat load changes. The steam turbine should be reasonably selected to achieve collaborative matching of the reactor, turbine and heat supply.
